Grief and Hope
Once upon a time there were 2… colors. One of grief and one of hope. I don’t want to give you a specific color because I’m sure you have one in mind for either. So grief and hope. One was brighter in look than the other, one a little more dim. Both were lights! There we go. They are colors of light. Hope was able to light up every room. No matter what situation they saw the good in everyone. Grief also lit up the room but in a different way, casting shadows in conversations, not the jolliest to say the least.
One day grief was on an adventure, traveling to new places and meeting other lights similar to theirs. Hope was also on a trip, but this go around they were visiting they’re childhood land. On this trip Grief and Hope connected through a mutual light, Friendship.
Friendship introduced the two. And to our surprise and even theirs, they connected immediately.
Hope was enamored by Grief’s talents and resourcefulness. And Grief loved Hopes sense of confidence. Grief wished to be as confident as Hope. And Hope wished to be as resourceful as Grief. They made a smart match, always meeting each other in the middle as often as they could. When it was time for Hope to return to their new home Grief promised to write letters and that one day they would join them.
Grief was determined to do so yearning to once again feel Hope’s light.
Hope was ready to start a family with Grief, but knew there was much to be done before so. So Hope worked. Every night and every day saving enough money to eventually build a light house for other lights. Dreaming of the time when Grief could finally join her.
Grief knew he needed to ask for formal permission from Hope’s family to join her. And one day returned to her land to ask her older sister for her hand in marriage. Hope’s sister reluctantly said yes, deep down afraid of how Grief would impact Hope.
In a few years, Hope and Grief finally reconnected ready to unify their lights.
Hope shared Grief her new life in a foreign land excited to create a new light.
